Living History Open House: 1850s & Civil War at Powers-Walker Historic Landmark in Glacial Park

Step back in time to the 1850s and Civil War era and join McHenry County Conservation District volunteers in historical attire as they offer tours and demonstrate skills appropriate to the season. April's open house will focus on the two sons from the Powers family and their contributions to the Civil War; mounted Civil War re-enactors will be on hand to share stories and practice their cavalry course; a special presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Be sure to take advantage of a rare opportunity to tour the historic farmhouse, which is open to the public only a handful of times each year. Registration is not required.
